Maker Educator and Programs Developer
Education and Programming
Throughout 2019 I was busy developing and facilitating STEAM (Science Technology, Engineering, Arts, Maths) programming at STEAMLabs and the Ontario Science Centre. Teaching everything from laser cutting to soldering, our campers were encouraged to apply their new knowledge in creative, fun ways. Some of my favourite projects included my campers banding together to build a robot fighting arena with multiple robot fighters, plus a robot to distribute snacks! Another camper used a laser cutter and servo motors to create a shark with a snapping jaw.
While I wasn’t delivering programs, I was developing new activities. With a particular interest ad educational background in wearable electronics, I created the Funky Fun Times Dance Glove, which was inspired by the Imogen Heap Mi.Mu gloves. The Funky Fun Times Dance Glove taught basic sewing, coding and electronics skills and encouraged everyone to get up and dance!
