Wearable Technology
Education and Programming
In the winter of 2019, I was asked to participate in the Community Voices creative partnership program. Administered by the Textile Museum of Canada, this program is delivered in collaboration with Toronto social agencies and provides meaningful creative education and development opportunities. I was brought on to teach a Wearable Electronics program at Workman Arts.
Over the course of four weeks, I taught key concepts of electricity, physical/wearable electronics and programming through my wacky PowerPoint presentations, physical demonstrations, and detailed handouts. I shared resources in Toronto and the web that provided free or low-cost options for experimenting in electronics. By carefully budgeting my allotted funds, I was able to create electronic kits for each participant so they could continue their wearable electronics practice after the program.
Program participants were invited to display their creations at the Community Voices exhibit at the Textile Museum of Canada.
